Music Director

Austin got his start in radio in February of 1995 from a “mysterious stranger” who recommended him to then 97.5 KWVS-The Waves “Classic Rock.” He began working the overnight shift and quickly moved to mid-days. In May 1995, 97.5 changed formats to country and Austin was in Heaven as he played the first song! Do you know what it was? Under the guidance of Dr. Bruce Nelson Stratton, Austin learned the ins and outs of production, programming, management, music, and public service. Austin is the station’s music programmer and his keen sense of musical trends are what give KFTX that perfect blend of music. His midday show is full of information, fun and the popular lunch time trivia contest always keeps listeners on their toes! He is very

happy to be part of the KFTX family!
