…STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS FRIDAY NIGHT INCREASE WILDFIRE THREAT…
.A strong front pushes south through Deep South Texas and the Rio
Grande Valley on Friday, with a secondary surge of strong
northerly winds arriving late Friday evening into late Saturday
morning. Relative humidity values are expected to drop Friday
afternoon with little to no recovery into Saturday morning. Any
wildfire that can develop will behave dangerously with erratic
growth and spread due to strong winds and lower humidity. A Fire
Danger Statement or Red Flag Warning may be needed.
The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a Fire
Weather Watch for breezy winds and low relative humidity, which
is in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
* WINDS…Northerly 15-25 mph, gusting as high as 35-45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…as low as 25 to 40 percent.
* IMPACTS…Any fire that can develop will behave dangerously with
erratic growth and spread.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
Red Flag Warnings.
