Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Says Dolly Parton Will Remain On The Ballot

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame says Dolly Parton is still on the nomination ballot for induction into its 2022 class despite her refusal to be considered for the honor.

“I really do not want votes split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out,” the country music icon said on social media on Monday.

But the organization said in a statement on Friday that it was too late for her withdrawal to be considered.

“Dolly’s nomination, along with the other 16 for the Class of 2022, was sent out earlier this month to our 1,100 general ballot voters, the majority of whom are artists themselves, for induction at our ceremony,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame said.

The statement added, “We are in awe of Dolly’s brilliant talent and pioneering spirit and are proud to have nominated her for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.”

Parton was nominated earlier this year for induction alongside artists such as Beck, Devo, A Tribe Called Quest, Lionel Richie, Kate Bush, Eminem, Rage Against the Machine and Carly Simon.

She was the only star from the country music genre on this year’s list.
