Having sold more than a million copies since its release on October 21, Taylor Swift‘s Midnights has become the biggest-selling album in nearly seven years.
With 1.578 million equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending October 27, this is the 11th time that a Swift album is making its debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with massive first-week sales.
Swift and Barbra Streisand jointly hold the record for the most No. 1 albums among female artists.
They are ranked fifth among musicians with more than 10 No. 1 albums – behind The Beatles, Drake, Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen.
The 500,000 records that Swift has shifted to vinyl design are “more than most artists can now manufacture, let alone sell,” Billboard says.
Albums from Arctic Monkeys, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Jeezy and DJ Drama are also featured in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart dated November 5.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units.
