Brandi Carlile Makes Debut As ‘Saturday Night Live’ Musical Guest

Brandi Carlile made her “Saturday Night Live” debut as the musical guest on the latest episode of the show on Saturday night (Oct. 23).

During the episode, which was hosted by “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis, Carlile performed two songs from her most recent album, In These Silent Days.

Carlile, wearing a shining gold suite, played an orange electric guitar as she sang “Broken Horses” with Phil and Tim Hanseroth, with backup support from two percussionists and Shooter Jennings on piano.

She then performed “Right on Time.” After beginning the song on piano, she rocked with her guitar alongside the Hanseroths.

Carlile had earlier taken to Instagram to share a photo from a 2018 trip to New York City for a “Late Night With Seth Meyers” show and wrote she “wandered accidentally into the SNL studio looking for the bathroom!”

“I saw the stage and it took my breath away … I don’t know why but I’ve always seen it as a definitive ‘ok now you’re a rockstar’ moment in a person’s musical life … I just HAD to grab a pic on the iconic Saturday Night Live stage,” Carlile wrote then. “ONE DAY we’ll get there man! Dreams come true everyday.”

Carlile paired her throwback photo with a present-day snap of herself in the same pose on the SNL stage, taken while preparing for her Saturday night performances.
