CMT Music Awards To Move To CBS Next Year

ViacomCBS has announced that the CMT Music Awards, which have aired on CMT since 2002, will now premiere exclusively on CBS starting in 2022.

The show will be moved up from its usual June spot by several weeks and will broadcast live from Nashville in the spring, Billboard reports. The Academy of Country Music Awards’ contract with CBS expired earlier this year.

This year’s CMT Music Awards, which is country music’s only entirely fan-voted award show, premiered on CMT as well as on other sister networks like MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network and TV Land.

The 2021 show was hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, and featured performances from H.E.R., Chris Stapleton, Gladys Knight, and Carrie Underwood.
