Kelly Clarkson Covers Starship’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ In Tribute To Moms

Kelly Clarkson covered Starship‘s 1987 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” during the Kellyoke segment of her talk show on Tuesday, July 6.

“And we can build this dream together/ Standing strong forever/ Nothing’s gonna stop us now,” Clarkson sang on a purple-lighted stage. “And if this world runs out of lovers/ We’ll still have each other/ Nothing’s gonna stop us/ Nothing’s gonna stop us now.”

“The perfect anthem for moms who survived parenting in lockdown!” “The “Kelly Clarkson Show” Twitter account shared of her nostalgic cover.

Clarkson had dedicated the episode to moms everywhere who held things together during the global coronavirus pandemic.

“Keep Calm and Mom On! Today’s show is dedicated to the strong mamas holding it down at home over the past year and a half! Tune in for stories of amazing mom achievements, hilarious mom fails, and meet some inspiring teacher moms!” another tweet read.

“Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” co-written by Diane Warren and Albert Hammond, was recorded by Starship for their second studio album, No Protection (1987).

The song reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 and became Warren’s first chart-topper. The track also received a nomination for Best Original Song at the 60th Academy Awards.
