Grammy-winning singer Kelly Clarkson covered Stevie Wonder‘s classic “I Just Called to Say I Love You” for the Kellyoke segment on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Wednesday, March 2.
Surrounded by pink and purple lights, the singer was accompanied by her band Y’all as she performed the song, staying true to the original.
“I Just Called to Say I Love You” was the lead single off Wonder’s original soundtrack for The Woman in Red, starring Gene Wilder. It was a major international hit, and remains Wonder’s best-selling single to date, having topped a record 19 charts.
The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in 1984 and remained on the chart for a total of 26 weeks.
