Kelsea Ballerini Tells Story Of True Friendship In ‘If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)’

“If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too),” a track released by Kelsea Ballerini from her new album Subject To Change, finds the country star telling the story of true friendship.

The song, which Ballerini co-wrote with Julian Bunetta and Shane McAnally, sees her telling a sort of Thelma & Louise-style story.

The song’s acoustic intro features rhythmic guitar, fiddle and dobro instrumentation.

“I’ve known you since Brad and Angelina / We go back like Pontiac seats / If I got an aisle with a mess I gotta clean up / I know you’ll be showin’ up with bleach,” Ballerini sings in the first verse.

Then comes the catchy chorus, “If you go down, I’m goin’ down too.”

“Hypothetically, if you ever kill your husband / Hand on the Bible, I’d be lyin’ through my teeth,” she sings, assuring that she would help her friend to even cover up a crime.

The video shows Ballerini showing off a 1950s-style outfit and hairstyle. She is also seen talking on the phone, doing her nails and makeup and cleaning the house while seemingly unaware that the world is ending outside her window.
