Miranda Lambert dropped a new song, “Geraldene,” featuring Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, from their upcoming The Marfa Tapes album on Wednesday (April 28).
The trio also performed the track during an appearance on “The Ellen Degeneres Show.”
“Geraldene, Geraldene / Why you gotta be so mean? / Don’t make me cause a scene now, Geraldene,” Lambert cautions in the chorus of the song in which Geraldene is the anti-heroine with bright red lips. “Geraldene, Geraldene / You got ’em all on their knees / But you can’t take a man from me, Geraldene / You’re trailer-park pretty, but you’re never gonna be Jolene.”
The artists can be heard chuckling in the background, with Lambert saying, “That was a good one … so fun,” at the very end.
After announcing the album on March 4, the trio released one of its songs, “In His Arms,” the following day. A few other songs from the album, “Tin Man,” “Tequila Does,” “Am I Right or Amarillo” and “Anchor,” have also been shared by Lambert.
The 15-track The Marfa Tapes album is due out on May 7.
