Paramount+ recently shared a trailer for June, the new feature-length documentary on legendary country singer-songwriter June Carter Cash.
June, set to premiere on Paramount+ on January 16, was directed by Emmy Award-winner Kristen Vaurio. The documentary features never-before-seen footage that reveals Carter Cash’s extraordinary life and iconic entertainment career, along with interviews of the singer as well as her family, fans and friends.
The one-minute, 45-second trailer opens with Kacey Musgraves saying that June is “a bada** b****, first off.” The trailer then describes how the phrase actually describes how great she was.
“I don’t know if a lot of people know that she wrote ‘Ring of Fire,'” Reese Witherspoon, who played Carter Cash in Walk the Line (2005), says in the trailer, followed by further confirmation by artist manager and music executive Vicky Hamilton.
A member of the country music’s pioneering Carter Family, Carter Cash won five Grammy awards, co-wrote the classic “Ring of Fire,” and married Johnny Cash. The songwriter, performer and actress opened for Elvis Presley and appeared onscreen with Robert Duvall and Jane Seymour.
