Wynonna Judd has announced that she will continue her Fall Tour in honor of late mother, Naomi Judd, who together made The Judds.
Naomi Judd’s other daughter Ashley Judd revealed last week that the legendary country music star died of a self-inflicted firearm wound on April 30, just one day before her scheduled induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame along with her other daughter.
Wynonna made the announcement from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville during “Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration,” her mother’s public memorial service held on Sunday.
“I will continue to sing,” she told the crowd of cheering fans. “I made a decision and I decided to share it on national television,” Wynonna announced. “After a lot of thought, I am gonna have to honor her and do this tour. I’m just gonna have to. Because that’s what you would want.”
“Bono once told me, ‘Give them what [the fans] want – not what you want,'” an emotionally broken Wynonna continued. “So tonight, as we close I say, ‘the show must go on.’ As hard as it may be. And we will show up together. You will carry me, as you carried me for 38 years once again because I honestly didn’t think I could do it.”
Wynonna will perform the Judds’ greatest hits during 10 concert dates scheduled as a part of the duo’s 2022 Final Tour with Martina McBride.
