Dave Grohl, Mickey Guyton Among Artists To Perform At Global Music Diplomacy Initiative

Dave Grohl and Mickey Guyton are among the leading American and international artists set to perform at the launch of U.S. State Department’s Global Music Diplomacy Initiative.

Artists from genres ranging from opera to rock to hip-hop will headline the launch of the Global Music Diplomacy Initiative on Wednesday, September 27.

Other artists due to perform include Jamie Barton, GAYLE, Herbie Hancock, Christopher Jackson, LADAMA, Aimee Mann, Rakim, Armani White, and DJ 2-Tone.

A video message from U2 lead singer Bono will also be displayed at the event.

The event will culminate with several announcements that will shape the future of music diplomacy, ranging from public-private partnerships with American music industry leaders to educational opportunities for youth globally, the State Department said.

The State Department added, “Through these efforts, the Department aims to cultivate a music ecosystem globally to create economic equity and strengthen the creative economy, expand societal opportunity and inclusion, and increase access to education”. The initiative leverages public-private partnerships with U.S. companies and non-profit organizations to elevate music as a diplomatic tool to promote peace and democracy.

The Department has partnered with the American Pops Orchestra who worked with Nouveau Productions to produce this event.
