Morgan Wallen Wins Big At Billboard Music Awards Despite Being Banned From Show

Despite being excluded from attending or performing at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, Morgan Wallen won three awards.

Wallen, who was nominated in six categories, won the awards for top country artist, top country male artist, and top country album for Dangerous: The Double Album.

He was denied entry to the award ceremony, held at the L.A. Live complex in Los Angeles, over an incident in January in which he used the “N-word” with friends as they were entering his Nashville home. TMZ released a video of the incident that went viral.

The country music singer and songwriter was disqualified from all the industry voted categories in the ACM Awards last month.

He was also ruled ineligible to compete in individual artist categories at this year’s CMA Awards, which will be held in November.

However, his nominations will be accepted in the best Single, Song, Album, Musical Event, and Music Video of the Year categories, “so as not to limit opportunity for other credited collaborators,” the Country Music Association said.
