Walker Hayes Reveals He’s Writing First Book ‘Glad You’re Here’

Country singer-songwriter Walker Hayes has revealed that he will be writing his first book.

The title of the book is “Glad You’re Here,” taken from a line in his song “Craig,” which Hayes wrote about his friend and collaborator, Craig Cooper.

In an interview with Music Mayhem, Hayes said the idea came from Craig. The book explores the closeness of the friendship between the two.

“[The book] uncovers the details of our friendship, my testimony, us losing a baby, so I go in detail about losing Oakley and how the Lord has redeemed that,” he said, referring to the death of his and his wife Laney Beville‘s seventh child, Oakleigh Klover Hayes.

“I also talk about my battle with alcoholism and how it’s going,” he added. “When I met Craig, I was an alcoholic, and now I will be six years sober in October.”

Moody Publishing, a non-profit organization, is publishing the book.

Hayes’ chart-topping song “Fancy Like” recently became a hit.
